Marijuana

“We should not be racing to make this available," and
that the emerging legal industry is
"a whole new scary thing."

- Malcolm Gladwell, Author of The Tipping Point

Capitol News Briefing on the Issue of
Legalizing Marijuana for Recreational Use in Connecticut

Submit Written Testimony

  • There are two legislative committee hearings for marijuana legalization bills on Friday, March 22, with different Bill numbers for each.  Please send your written testimony to both.
  • For testimony to be included in the record, you must email it in Word or PDF format to JUDtestimony@cga.ct.gov. It’s preferable to email your testimony on or before the day of the hearing (March 22, 2019), but it can be submitted anytime during the day of the hearing as well. The email subject line should be: “Testimony opposed to SB-1085.” (SB means Senate Bill)
  • Next:  send the same Word or PDF document with the following changes to the gltestimony@cga.ct.gov  “Dear Members of the General Law Committee” and “Opposed to HB 7371” (HB means House Bill).
  • In your cover email include your full name and town, and state the bill number for which you are offering testimony, and whether you support or oppose to the bill. Include your name and town in the Word document or PDF too (don’t include any other personal contact information as the document will become part of the public record and posted online).
  • IMPORTANT:  Send same testimony via separate emails to both your state Senator and Representative asking them to oppose the bills. Look them up
